Unique Radio Transmitters

There are some very unique radio transmitters that are known as walkie talkies. They use half-duplex channel which will only allow one transmission at a time even though many people can listen.

These ones do not need the earpiece that other phones use. They have built in speakers that give out the sound without any need for earpieces.

They simply make use of handheld pieces and radio stations that are in particular locations. You could picture a large telephone handset which has long antennae protruding from its head.

The fist sized radio transmitter and receiver started as a Motorola but later became known as œwalkie talkie. The first one of its kind was Motorola SCR-300 which used frequency modulation which was carried in a backpack.

Sometimes later it was even referred to as œHandie Talkie but was an improved type to be used in the World War II. This very machine was the one most people now call the walkie talkie because very few could tell the difference. It was rudimentary but still served its purpose as a handset during that period.

Nowadays it is found as a very useful gadget when it comes to communication in large industrial, commercial and consumer factories. It is also very important for communicating during outdoor sports or in coordinating business, military, public security operations. One thing to note is that its price, appearance and even quality keeps on varying from one type to the next. Look at kids walkie talkies; for example, they look quite unlike the rugged digital which is the heavy duty industrial type.

The technology that concerns the walkie talkies and their housing or compartments keeps on changing. Now the heavy duty kinds are very tough and have a more protective casing and fewer frequencies. Again the consumer type boasts a much smaller and light weight machine with more channels that are easily scanned by a band.

The kids walkie talkie is of less capacity and has not licensing regulations on it. It actually resembles all the rest but is of an inferior quality and technology.
